  New Logo and Website Updates Reflect Expansion

The NJSLEAAAC expands its focus beyond New Jersey to become the New York • New Jersey Asian American Law Enforcement Advisory Committee. The new name is accompanied by a newly updated logo and many changes to the website. All members are encouraged to attend the joint membership meeting on September 14, 2006.

NJSLEAAAC discusses an exchange program with South Korean Police Department and the New Jersey State Police. Attending the discussion were: New Jersey State Police Captain Wendy Galaway, Bergen County PBA President Mark Butler, NJSLEAAAC Vice President Kwang Soo Bae, NJSP Superintendent Colonel Rick Fuente, NJSLEAAAC President Nam Sik Oh, Man hee Lee, and J.J.Park.

The scholarship continues our mision of supporting and assisting law enforcement and their families. We are proud to be able to expand on the three (3) academic scholarships we awarded in 2004. This year, five (5) scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 each. Please help us spread the word about this opportunity to eligible students.

The NJSLEAAAC donates $1,500 to Palisades Park Police Officer Ben Ramous. The donation was made to offset the officers losses following a fire in his home.

  U.S. Department of Labor and NJSLEAAAC Sign an Agreement Establishing Partnership

The US Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division (USDOL), and the New Jersey State Law Enforcement Asian-American Advisory Committee recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship that helps to promote a mutual understanding between the Asian-American community in New Jersey and the federal law enforcement community. The agreement was developed and signed by Corlis L. Sellers (USDOL Regional Administrator), Joseph Petrecca (USDOL District Director), Nam Sik Oh (NJSLEAAAC President), David Chong (NJSLEAAAC Executive Director).

  NJSLEAAAC EXTENDS SYMPATHIES TO THE FAMILY OF STATE TROOPER KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY

  NJSLEAAAC extends its condolences to the family and friends of Trooper Bertram T. Zimmerman, III who became a New Jersey State Trooper in 2001 and was killed in the line of duty February 5th, 2004 at the age of 32. We remember Trooper Zimmerman, who selflessly gave his life to protect all of us, and we honor his bravery. [full story]

  NJSLEAAAC holds the charter meeting and dinner honoring Captain Wendy J. Galloway of the NJ State Police and Anthony Scardino. Jr., President, The 200 Club of Bergen County. The first officers, trustees and members of the advisory board were elected including our first president: Chang D. Cho.
